Interesting trade offer from a saavy player in my league?
Who gets who is not relevant. The trade would involve Gates/Buckhalter for Olsen/A. Peterson (Vikes, not Bears). The person receiving Peterson could use a top-tier back to strengthen line-up. Gates, however, is a machine. The other thing to consider is that Heath Miller is sitting out in FA right now, too.
The person receiving Peterson would have (at RB) Gore, MBIII, D. Ward, B. Leonard, Betts. Olsen would be the lone TE. Receiver depth is adequate with Housh, TO, Jennings, Curry, A. Davis.
The person receiving Gates has Addai (and Keith), Henry and White. The advantage of Buckhalter is not clear with Westbrook coming back. Good depth at all other positions.
This is a coin flip in my mind – who ends up stronger?
The starters would be Gates, Addai, Henry, White…..vs.
Olsen, Peterson, Gore, MBIII?
I don’t know your scoring system but I’m in a ppr league where you get 1 pt for 10yds rushing/receiving, 6 pts. for TD, 5 bonus if 125yds rushing/receiving. This is about what I think the starters would produce for the rest of the year:
Gates-200 Olsen-140
Addai-220 Peterson-160
Henry-80 Gore-170
White-110 MBIII-170
Why would the owner of T. Henry be wanting to trade away a good RB? He’s not weak at TE with Olsen, who I think will be Greise’s fav target.
You have to be concerned about Henry and his dope smoking problem. And the pot must be an afrodisiac since he’s got kids from 9 different hoes. Anyway, you have to expect Henry to be hitting the pipe as well as laying the pipe in a few weeks, so he will be OUT of the fantasy playoff picture!!! So I sure as hell wouldn’t trade away Peterson!!!!
And If I had Gates, I probably wouldn’t be trading him for a question mark in Olsen. I still have Gore, who will rebound, and MBIII, who would be top 5 if Julius Jones ever got hurt. Leonard and Betts are nice to have as backups too. Leonard might start week 8 against Cleveland and that could be useful. But it wouldn’t be that bad of idea to take a medium hit in the TE position to receive a large boost in the RB position.
So yeah, it’s close but I like the strong depth of the Olsen/Peterson taker.
